A Letter From The Owner

Thanks for visiting our website and giving me an opportunity to tell you about myself and about Nicolet Heating and Cooling. I’m Leif Thompson, and I’m proud to call myself the owner and founder of Nicolet.

My Story

A journeyman steamfitter by trade, I have been exposed to the heating industry since I was 18 years old. My years in the Steamfitters and Plumbers Union were followed by an apprenticeship with a Green Bay mechanical contractor. In 2002, I became a certified and licensed HVAC contractor and provided service in the Green Bay area. In that same year, I earned my Wisconsin general contractor’s license and for several years afterward, worked in home construction.

My Motto

My interest in alternative energy sources led me to diversify into geothermal, solar and wind power. “Go Green, Save Green” was my motto when I launched Nicolet Heating and Cooling in January of 2005.

With my background in home construction, I quickly found a market as a residential heating and air conditioning contractor for home builders. While other heating contractors may lack the understanding of the “science” behind their construction practices, this is one area in which Nicolet Heating and Cooling excels. I consider myself an expert in heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and I enjoy working customers through the process of understanding what equipment and strategies are best for them.

A big proponent of the Energy Star program, I tie together energy efficiency and air sealing to create the optimum building envelope for a home. The result is exceptional air quality, comfort and savings for every customer.

My Approach

At Nicolet Heating and Cooling we install, maintain, and service all makes, models, and brands of heating and cooling equipment: Trane, Lennox, Carrier, ClimateMaster, Hydron Module, NTI, Weil MClain, and Triangle Tube. We serve residential customers in the Green Bay-area, and we also handle commercial jobs. Businesses of all shapes and sizes have contracted with us for projects, including replacement of roof top units (RTU) or kitchen hood grease ducts. As a sister company to WI Metal Works, Nicolet Heating and Cooling handles all types of custom metal fabrication, and we’ll even weld a project on-site. Our 20-man shop thrives on a challenge and loves to create solutions that work for our clients.
